Did someone say chocolate banana shake? Yes sireeee!
Decadent and delicious, this is my favorite vegan chocolate banana milkshake recipe ever!
It’s a perfect treat on a hot summer day when temperatures are in the triple digits! It’s been so warm here in Southern California and I needed something easy, cool and healthy after my time at the gym.
It’s…
- thick & creamy
- quick & healthy
- dairy-free
- refined sugar-free
- only 5 ingredients
- ready in 5 minutes
- & super good for your mind, body and soul
Turn this into a protein shake by adding a scoop of vegan protein powder. It’s an especially good addition for those just starting a plant based diet and unsure of how to get enough protein, or those who are always on the go.
Enjoy this vegan shake as breakfast, snack, dessert or time you need a boost or want to cool down. It will leave you feeling great!

NOTES:
Currently I’m using Garden of Life Protein powders. I like that their original powder is not sweetened with stevia or any other sweetener as I prefer to sweeten mine with fruits of choice. A few other plant based protein powders that I do recommend, but do not have unsweetened choices, are Vega One, Sun Warrior and any hemp protein powders (pref. organic), To find out about more protein powder options with reviews, check out this post, Vegan Protein Powders For Smoothies: My Big Guide, from Kathy of Lunchboxbunch.com.
Make raw by using homemade almond milk and raw protein powder.
Tip…always freeze your older bananas instead of throwing them away so you will have them on hand for smoothies or raw banana ice creams like my Almond Chunky Monkey Ice Cream or Chocolate Banana Ice Cream…they are sweet and super healthy at this stage.

I trade up between Garden of Life Raw Protein Powders and Vega One. I like Garden of Life because they have powders with no stevia which I prefer. But the Vega is good too. I've also heard that Sun Warrior is an excellent source too! Here is a pretty thourogh article on protein powders from the Lunchbox Bunch: http://kblog.lunchboxbunch.com/2013/04/vegan-protein-powders-for-smoothies-my.html

This is one of my favorites. I added some almond butter to make it a little thicker.
