How To Select Avocados: Place the avocado in the palm of your hand. Gently wrap your fingers around the avocado, and squeeze very lightly. If ripe, the flesh will give just a bit. Another way is to play with the little stubby stem at the top of the avocado; looseness indicates ripeness.

How To Speed Ripening: If your avocados aren’t quite ripe, store them in a paper bag with a banana to speed up ripening.
