Are you all ready for the weekend? I know I am!
You can find me resting on my patio and tending to my small potted garden while sipping on a frosted glass of this delicious non-dairy matcha & coconut nice cream shake.
I knew I loved hot green tea, but I had no idea how amazing it was going to be in an ice cold shake. It’s my new summer staple!
We all hear about how good matcha is for you. Adding a little to smoothies and shakes is an easy way to incorporate its health benefits into your diet.
You can find #matcha in just about anything these days. It has become a trend that I hope is here to stay!
Benefits of matcha
Of all the teas, green teas are the least processed and hold the most anti-oxidants. Matcha (meaning ‘powdered tea’) is finely ground green teas leaves. It holds the most benefits over other green teas due to the processing and ingestion of the whole tea leaf.
Green tea is high in antioxidants called, polyphenols, which act to protect against cancer and helps to slow the effects of aging. You can also use it for an energy boost and to aid in weight loss.
The flavor of matcha conjures up notes of grassiness with a lovely umami character, and pairs perfectly with the Silk Nutchello Toasted Coconut & Cashews I’ve chosen to use in this recipe. It has just the amount of sweetness and flavor to pair with the matcha powder.
If you rather sweeten your shake on your, own their Silk Unsweetened Coconut Milk would be great here too. Just add a date or drizzle of maple syrup before blending.
Top off your shake with toasted coconut flakes and dark chocolate shaving and it’s a delicious treat any time of day!
Gather your ingredients, get blending and sip away to a blissful state of green!Print

If using unsweetened coconut milk, add 1 – 2 dates, chopped and seeds removed, to sweeten. Or add a drizzle of pure maple syrup, about 1 teaspoon, before blending.
