What Goes Into An Acai Smoothie?

You just need 4 simple ingredients:

  • Pure Acai berry – Both unsweetened acai powder or acai puree will work so use whatever is convenient. I used a freeze-dried powder that I picked up online from Amazon (affiliate link). You can find frozen Sambazon acai berry puree packets in most grocery stores in the frozen fruit section. Target also carries frozen puree packets.
  • Frozen berries – I used a berry mix with raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries. You can use any berry combo you like or stick with one variety, such as strawberry. Even cherries would be delicious!
  • Banana – Use a large frozen banana that has been sliced into small chunks.
  • Non-dairy milk – Use your favorite type of unsweetened plain or vanilla plant milk – almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk, oat milk, etc. When in a pinch, you can sub water in place of non-dairy milk.

How To Make Acai Smoothie

Making an acai smoothie is easy as 1 – 2 – 3!

  1. Place the frozen banana, berries, acai powder or puree, and liquids into the blender cup.
  2. Puree until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute, adding a little extra liquid as needed to help it move along and blend.
  3. Pour into a serving glass and enjoy with a straw or a spoon!

Smoothie Tips

  • Use ripe bananas. Overripe bananas, which are nice and spotty, are much sweeter and flavorful.
  • Use sliced bananas. The less the blender has to work at chopping, the thicker and creamier your smoothie will be. So be sure to chop the bananas before freezing for easy blending.
  • Use a mix of fruits or all of one kind. I like the flavor of mixed fruits, but if you only have one or two types of berries, you can adjust to suit your needs. You can even change up the berries, adding pineapple, mango, etc.
