HEALTHY FLAX & EVO BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE

Flax + Evo Balsamic Vinaigrette is a delicious, easy-to-make, heart-healthy dressing for salads and vegetables! Made with 6 ingredients, plus salt + pepper.

This healthy balsamic dressing is a family favorite. We usually have it on hand to drizzle over salads or roasted veggies whenever the craving arises!

With this balsamic vinaigrette, I have combined flax seed oil with the traditional extra virgin olive oil to add an extra dose of omegas to my diet.

Why We Love This Recipe!

This flax and evo vinaigrette is of a two-fold goodness.

  • Contains no additives or preservatives. I prefer making my own dressing whenever possible. I like knowing the exact ingredients and methods used for preparation.
  • Rich in Omega 3 & 6. I’m always trying to add healthy twists to my meals whenever I can. The addition of omega-rich flax oil makes this a tasty option!
  • It’s Delicious. Most importantly, it’s yummy with its perfect blend of tang and sweetness.

This simple balsamic dressing clings to whatever you add it to. I hope you enjoy this delicious, heart-healthy dressing as much as I do!

Flaxseed oil benefits

  • Flaxseed oil contains omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 has been shown to decrease the risk and impact of heart disease and risk of heart attacks.
  • Adding flaxseed oil to your diet can aid in the prevention of heart disease. When digested, it enters the blood, helping to prevent inflammation in the blood vessels and slowing the buildup of plaque in the blood vessels.
  • Omega-3 can be found in walnuts, flaxseed, hemp hearts, canola oil, and soybean oil. Flaxseed oil has the highest concentration of omega-3.
  • Omega-3 fat makes up about 50% of the oil in flaxseeds. One teaspoon of flaxseed oil or one tablespoon of ground flaxseed will supply the daily requirement of ALA.

Other ways to add flaxseed oil to your diet, try adding a teaspoon to a smoothie or bowl of soup.

How To Store Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed oil should be stored in the refrigerator or the freezer to protect it from oxygen damage. Also, keep in mind that heat will damage the omega-3s in flaxseed oil, so it is important not to heat this oil.

How to make Flax & Evo Balsamic Vinaigrette

Making this simple balsamic dressing is as easy as 1, 2, 3…

  1. Start by mixing together the balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, dijon mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper (above left photo). Mixing the ingredients first without the oil helps to emulsify the mustard.
  2. Next, add the olive and flaxseed oil and whisk together until well blended (above right photo).
  3. Lastly, taste and season with more salt and pepper to taste.

Now you are ready to drizzle on salad, steamed or raw veggies, or anywhere you would usually use balsamic vinaigrette!

  1. Love this easy dressing! Thanks for the recipe.

  2. I did not have hemp seed /flax seed oil, so I used 1/2 of EVVO. The maple syrup adds that special “something” to the dressing, and cuts the tartness. This vinaigrette is a staple in my kitchen.
